As a club Buckden Junior Football club has run successfully for 27 years, With the footballing world changing a lot over those years and especially more over the last 5 years with bringing in more inclusivity we also need to grow and offer more as a club.

So far the club has already seen an inclusive development session on a Sunday , a development session for u7-u16 on a Monday and we even started a Veterans team this season, however that is just the beginning of our plans.

As of next season the club will be dropping the junior name from our badge and going forward we will be known as BUCKDEN FOOTBALL CLUB which will consist of 3 sections to the club all coming under the same umbrella

– Youth
– Men’s Senior and Vets
– Women’s senior and girls

Giving us the pathways needed to allow our youth teams to grow with the club and move into the adult game in both men’s and women’s football with Buckden.

Our first part of this next step will be starting in February with a new session to be held at hinchingbrooke school on a Friday evening called FA SQUAD GIRLS, this is for 12-14 yr olds. We have been in discussion with hunts Fa for quite some time now and with so many wildcat centres in the local area currently for 7-11yr olds, it was thought squad girls would be the best option as only a couple of centres around the local area offering football for this age range. This potentially will allow the club to produce some girls teams for the following season.

We hope this is just the start and plan on bringing more girls training sessions and teams at u11 and below over tye coming seasons with the potential of bringing a women’s team to the club aswell in the future.

We are also looking to bring back a men’s senior team to Buckden, this is in discussion and more information will follow before the end of this season.

The committee and myself are extremely excited to take the club to the next level and see us grow to be bigger and more inclusive than ever before
